Salema Coaxum, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Salema Coaxum is a board-certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who enjoys serving her country and the people in it. Born and raised in Newark, N.J., Dr. Coaxum entered the Army National Guard after completing high school. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. Subsequently, Dr. Coaxum attended Kennesaw State University, in Kennesaw GA, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Immediately after receiving her nursing degree, Dr. Coaxum Commissioned into the Army Nurse Corps shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States, where she served on active duty. Determined to provide the highest levels of nursing care, Dr. Coaxum went on to receive her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Brandman University in Irvine, CA.
Dr. Coaxum has a passion for serving in the field of psychiatry, and she strives to treat every client with empathy, compassion, and respect. She knows first-hand the value of integrity when it comes to building trustworthy relationships with those who choose to work with her as their psychiatric and mental health provider. Dr. Coaxum has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She has worked with those who have acute and chronic mental health conditions, the severe and persistent mentally ill, crisis stabilization, involuntary commitments, and substance abuse. With over 13 years of psychiatric nursing experience, Dr. Coaxum welcomes the opportunity to assist you in meeting your mental health goals.
